About Us
who we are?
our story
The amaMfengu (plural of Mfengu) is a reference to Xhosa clans whose ancestors were refugees that fled from the Mfecane in the early-mid 19th century to seek land and protection from the Xhosa 12. The name amaMfengu means “wanderers” and the Mfengu people were formed from the tribes that were broken up and dispersed by Shaka and his Zulu armies in the Mfecane wars
